    "I believe it takes more faith to be an atheist than it does to be a Christian." So is faith bad now in your estimation, or are atheists just closer to the mustard seed amount of faith capable of moving mountains? "The reason I say this..." Is because Frank Turek said it first and you thought it sounded like a pretty turn of phrase. "... well it's because the atheist must believe that..." Nope. Stop right there. Any time I hear theists say what "atheists must believe" it's always wrong so here's the actual position. "Atheists must lack a belief in any God or Gods." Any other statement is trying to graft something on to the atheist position so that someone can try and argue against it. And that's dishonest. One can say, well if a God didn't do it surely you have opinions on how all this came to be? And that would be correct but there is not just one answer atheists go for. To pick any one, is to try and argue against that one thing, something outside of atheism, which is fine, but don't pretend like you're debunking atheism then. "... nothing blew up and then became everything." The pulpit really is the pre-internet internet forum. You can just get up there and be wrong and it's usually only the most confidently incorrect people who make their voices as loud as possible. You're talking about big bang cosmology, and that isn't what big bang cosmology posits. Read a book. It was everything, at an infinitely dense point, rapidly expanding. "You gotta get back to nothing at some point in time." Not if time is finite in the past. As far as we know, the universe is the beginning of space-time. If there is no universe, then there is no time, and thusly, it doesn't make sense to say there was a before the universe. "They [atheists] either have to prove that matter has always existed..." No we don't. "... which we can prove it hasn't..." No you can't. "... or we can show the logical evidence that there's no reason to believe in that..." Yeah I bet you want to walk back that previous statement. "The atheist must believe that the disciples of Christ faked his resurrection..." No we don't. We just have to not believe a God exists. "... all the while knowing that they were dying for something they themselves made up." Oooor they were continuing to spread the lie because having the literal son of God support their movement gave them a lot of power and perhaps they even believed the lies themselves, and they weren't willing to let that go, so they spin a tale to continue having that power among their congregation, and then yes, died for that, because the funny thing about martyrdom, it only enhances the faith of people who believe in you. Of course all of this is assuming that the bible has an accurate historical record of the disciples and considering the earliest written records we have is from the biblical scholar Josephus 30 years after the fact, there's no reason to assume it is at all accurate in it's characterization of the disciples. "Who's gonna believe that?" Certainly no one who already agrees with you. "How much faith does it take to say 'yeah the disciples faked their resurrection and then they died for something they knew was a lie.'" Not much since we have documented cases of people doing that today. It's probably more accurate to say they actually believed it, but once again, atheists don't have to have an opinion on any of this to be an atheist. "... the evidence we have for Jesus Christ..." So is faith more important in your religion or is it evidence? If it's evidence, then why is God so precious with whom he gives this evidence to? I mean supposedly he's someone who wants everyone to come to know him right? If he operates based on evidence, why is the evidence he gives not something the skeptical can test and acquire for ourselves? You could say "well you have to truly look for him" but that's basically like saying "you have to already believe he exists in order to find evidence of it", which is tantamount to just fooling yourself, which is something the skeptical aren't willing to engage in. If it's faith, why do atheists have more of it than you do, yet not believe?

    It’s me! The Lord had to dig up my ground and fertilize the roots, with a Stage 4 cancer diagnosis while pregnant as a single mom. He turned my life completely upside down and I am now a born-again believer and where there was death, there is now eternal life. Cancer/free since October 2021!

    In truth, it actually takes zero faith to be an Atheist. Theism and Theists have not yet met their burden of proof, so therefore I am an Atheist.

  • @cygnusustus
    @cygnusustus 11 месяцев назад

    It takes no faith to be an atheist. Atheists are not required to believe any of what you claim they are required to believe. Maybe you should spend some time trying to understand atheism, and epistemology in general? It would help you.

  • @BobLanglar
    @BobLanglar 11 месяцев назад

    Well you don't believe the other religions are true and you don't believe their Gods are real, is that a faith-based position too? Or maybe the disbelief in any God is usually based on a lack of evidence.

    How much faith does it take to believe that gods other than yours don't exist?

  • @maxdoubt5219
    @maxdoubt5219 11 месяцев назад

    Actually, atheism _can_ be a faith position. Atheists can be neutrals, disbelievers or, in very rare cases, deniers who _claim_ no gods exist. Denialism can't be proved so it's a faith position but the single, 3-word claim, "No gods exist" isn't a religion. That would make a short holy book! So, how much faith does it take to be an atheist denier? The same amount it takes do deny the existence of ghosts.

    • @cygnusustus
      @cygnusustus 11 месяцев назад

      "Denialism can't be proved" Depending upon the definition of god, the denial of god can be proved..

    Can those who reject a self-created universe from nothing justify their skepticism? Of course! We lack any objective experience _with,_ and any objective evidence _for_ things creating themselves from nothing. That's rational. But if that's the bar to clear then what _else_ do we lack objective experience with and evidence for? Gods! TY for justifying disbelief.

  • @maxdoubt5219

    What if we _had_ found the universe to be eternal? Would Xians today be admitting that the bible's kickoff is wrong? 😄You're a fool if you think so. No, today we'd be hearing about how our "eternal" universe is evidence for their "eternal" god and how "In the beginning" should be interpreted "metaphorically" or "symbolically." That's called a win/win scenario.

    You could have made this clip even shorter. How much faith does it take to be an atheist? None. That's because atheism doesn't tell us anything else beyond the God belief. It doesn't tell you what their moral philosophy is, it doesn't tell us how they think the world came about, etc, etc. Now I'll tell you why it takes faith to be a theist. The reason it takes faith is because you have to believe an invisible supernatural deity spoke magical words that brought forth the cosmos from nothing. Next You have to prove that an invisible, infinite supernatural being can even exist as well as prove that a supernatural being is capable of creating something from absolutely nothing. And as for the disciples faking the resurrection and that nobody would be willing to die for a lie.... You do realize that Joseph Smith was also destroyed for his beliefs, right? So does that mean that what he died for was true?

    We don't have god given rights, they are all given by our government. There are no unalienable rights. Your guns can be taken away if you commit a felony and you can't shout fire in a crowded theater. EVERY right can be limited or taken away.

    • @bunjeegarrett7981
      @bunjeegarrett7981 2 года назад

      FYI - God is the Creator and therefore the Creator of every unalienable right. God is also the Creator of justice, which includes every just judgment that limits the rights of criminals. To suggest that judicial judgments are evidence that there are no unalienable rights is at best ridiculous.

    • @TheJimtanker

      @@bunjeegarrett7981 The existence of everything is evidence that everything exists. You have not demonstrated that a god is needed for that. You're simply begging the question by appealing to a god. The laws of logic are tools that humans developed to better make sense of the world around us. Again, no god needed.

    • @bunjeegarrett7981
      @bunjeegarrett7981 2 года назад

      @@TheJimtanker Actually - your tautology fails to explain anything. Being that we can’t traverse an infinite - there must be a beginning of the universe which contains every created thing. Existence itself demands an infinite creator. This is not question begging - this is simple logic. Once again I ask you to justify the existence of universal laws of logic apart from a creator God.

    Just discovered this short video online ... use to live in Austin and attended your Calvary church in Pflugerville but listened to you regularly on the Christian radio station there. Am now retired in Olympia, WA and attending Calvary Olympia. Found this format very motivating. Scripture memory is a tool that us older Christians need to incorporate in our lives. Thank you, Pastor Bunjee. Keep up your outreach online and on radio - you are blessed with a gift of speaking and teaching God's word. Bless you.
